The Invasive Alien Plant Program (IAPP) application launched as a web-based, centralized database in 2005. It receives and stores comprehensive data on activities undertaken by a wide variety of agencies and organizations responsible for invasive plant management across the province to eliminate, or minimize the spread of, invasive plant species in British Columbia.
As the key database for all invasive plant data in BC, IAPP is a powerful management tool that lets its many users co-ordinate, analyze and report on invasive plant infestations across BC, as well as:
* identify and track the incidence and dispersal of known invasive species;
* track and manage invasive species treatments;
* better understand how invasive plant populations are spreading, and investigate vectors for dispersal; and
* assist with early detection and rapid response mechanisms.
Data entry into IAPP is secured by username and password. However, the IAPP data can be viewed by all members of the general public in the IAPP Map Display web-mapping application. In IAPP Map Display the individual layers for surveys, mechanical, chemical, and biological treatments, biological dispersals, and various invasive plant containment lines may be turned on and off, and it also offers a number of IAPP specific tools to highlight locations of specific species and/or specific treatments on the map.
To ensure that the data collected in the field is accurate, truly comprehensive and of the correct type for entry into the IAPP database, this IAPP Forms app lets the user enter the field data into the required activity forms and download them as CSV files to a computer, from which they can be accumulated into an IAPP batch upload schema for secure upload into IAPP.
Use of the IAPP forms is described in detail in the Reference Guide Part IV
